Welina mai e ka lehulehu o Maui!
Greetings to the multitudes on Maui!
Mahalo to all for taking the time to read this.
I am Kanaka (native Hawaiian) on my paternal line through the Mahoe, Kepano, and Paahao bloodlines. I am the wife of Kapali Keahi of Mala, Lahaina, Maui, and together we birthed three children, two born at our home in Lahaina, and our muli born in Pauwela at the home of our late midwife, Tina Garzero. I have been attending births for 10 years and am a senior student midwife at National Midwifery Institute with plans to finish in early 2025.
I am also a ko’okua (doula) with Kalauokekahuli and Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies, a childbirth educator, Indigenous Lactation Counselor, cultural practitioner and a homeschooling mother.
I have a deep passion for Hawaiian culture/language-focused/rooted and infused midwifery care and attending to birthing people in all stages of their process, offering care during pregnancy, labor, and for at least 40 days after birth.
