Connie Perkins
Connie Perkins (she/they) is a mother, midwife, activist, artist and herbalist specializing in full spectrum, trauma informed reproductive care. She has over 20 years of experience supporting families through the childbearing year.
Connie trained as a midwife through the apprenticeship model in a busy practice in rural Michigan. She later graduated Magna Cumme Laude with a bachelor of Science in Midwifery from Midwives College of Utah. Connie has since worked as adjunct faculty at several midwifery institutions and taught workshops on reproductive justice and trauma informed care internationally.
Connie has a deep commitment to listening and sees their work in midwifery as participation in a radical movement back to honoring our bodies, our land and our sovereignty. How we are born matters. How we are made to feel during pregnancy and birth, matters.
Connie is passionate about the student experience and the future of midwifery education, especially the accessibility of midwifery education for indigenous communities of students and traditional midwives.
Connie proudly carries mixed Indigenous and Settler ancestry. She spent her childhood split between coastal Virginia and the Menominee Indian Reservation in Northern Wisconsin. She has three home born children and currently resides in west Maui.
