A Midwife is an expert in normal pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum and newborn care.

Our midwifery team provides complete care during the pregnancy and postpartum, including ordering labs, ultrasounds and screenings. For those who choose it, we offer homebirths including waterbirth, and for those that prefer to birth in the hospital, we can offer virtual or in persona doula or ko’okua support. Our midwifery team also provides whole life reproductive health care from menarche to menopause, including preconception/fertility counseling, annual exams, STI screening, contraception planning and full spectrum loss support.

The Midwifery Model of Care is a fundamentally different approach to pregnancy and childbirth than contemporary obstetrics. Our model of care includes:

• Monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the birthing parent throughout the childbearing cycle

• Providing the birth parent and family with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support

• Minimizing technological interventions and

• Identifying and referring individuals who require obstetrical attention.
